About: What to Expect
What should I expect?
At Garrett Memorial we are bankers, school teachers, nurses, construction workers, cheerleaders, dental hygienists, stay at home moms, students, store owners, bakers, administrators, families, young at heart, newlyweds, expectant parents, businessmen, and weekend warriors. On Sundays you will find people dressed in suits, and others dressed in blue jeans. Our music lasts about twenty-five minutes and can be anything from a praise chorus reflecting current music trends to a hymn written in the 18th century. The sermon usually lasts in between thirty to forty-five minutes.
When should I come?
The morning worship service starts at 10:55 a.m. so you may want to show up around 10:45 so you can park and get situated in the auditorium
What should I do with my children?
We have childcare available from infant to six years of age if you want to use it. But we are also pleased to have children in the service with their parents. We believe a child’s greatest teaching tool is their parents and what a joy it is for a son or daughter to get to worship with their mom, dad, grandmother or grandfather.
I have been on Sunday morning, now what?
We believe that the next step is to get plugged in to a small group setting. There are Sunday morning bible studies, often times referred to as Sunday school. These are divided by age so you will be in a class with others around your own age. We also have LifeGroups which meet on Sunday night in host homes. The LifeGroup you belong to is based upon geography. There is one meeting close to where you live!
Membership Matters
Frequently we offer a Membership Matters Class for all new members or prospective members. If you are wanting to find out what is important to Garrett Memorial, how we operate, and how you can get involved, this is the perfect class for you.
