Authenticity — Life is messy and so is Christianity, but we don’t want to hide from the hard parts of living godly lives. We want to create a culture of authentic worship (by the way, this has little to do with music). In order to live a lifestyle of authentic worship, we must seek to learn and apply the Bible to our lives. Someone once said that learning has not taken place until there is behavior change. Jesus said it like this, “God is seeking those who will worship him in spirit and in truth.” In other words, the truth of God’s word is to transform our heart so that we respond in faith to God in our daily lives.

Community — Not only are we to be authentic worshipers, we are to live in community with other believers. This is one way we show we are authentic worshipers and one of the main reasons God gave us the church (see Ephesians 4:15-16). Biblical community is often times referred to as “one-anothering”—love one another, encourage one another, spur one another one. When the gospel is a change-agent in the life of individuals and groups of people (the church), then it becomes dynamically compelling.

Global Vision — The gospel frees us from artificial, human barriers such as class, race, or socioeconomic status. We value all ethnic groups and desire to see people from every tribe, tongue, nation, and language find their joy in God through Christ.

Intentional Discipleship — Jesus told his apostles to go into every nation, baptize them and teach them to observe all that He had taught. Teaching to observe implies an intentional approach. We strive to go about our everyday lives with gospel-intentionality, capturing moments to speak about Jesus as we rise up or go to bed. Intentional discipleship can be done over dinner, through a bible study, or just driving down the road and GMBC seeks to use all of them.
